Jon Kabat-Zinn, the Director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, defines mindfulness as awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally. This practice welcomes a more holistic approach to health and wellness, highlighting the connection between the mind and the body.
We teach mindful meditation as a way to relieve stress and anxiety, and to calm the mind. Students at Arroyo Grande, Santa Maria, Nipomo and Paso Robles High Schools can sign up for the Wellness club here to learn more about this practice.
