USDA Farm to School Project

In July 2020, in partnership with Santa Maria Joint Unified High School District (SMJUHSD), CAPSLO received funding from USDA to develop a Farm to School (F2S) Action Plan. The Action Plan aims to improve student wellbeing by increasing access to local, healthy foods by focused efforts on school gardens, agricultural education and school food. So far, the F2S Team has hosted 6 meetings, surveyed over 100 stakeholders, and conducted over a dozen interviews with students, parents, teachers, local farmers, district staff, and community members. Insights from our valuable stakeholders will shape the F2S Action Plan.
