The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program is designed to provide a range of supportive services to address barriers to stable housing for low-income Veterans and those at risk of becoming homeless, and to assist Veterans who are homeless make a successful transition to permanent housing.  Supportive services are available to eligible Veterans and other members of the household based on an assessment of their needs and individualized housing stability plan. Participation in case management is required to ensure the success of households assisted.

Program Components include:

Case managers work with participants and match unmet needs with resources both internally and externally. Follow up and retention services are available to participants to provide sustainability.

SSVF staff participates in local job fairs, Stand Downs, Veteran organization events, community functions, and collaborates with additional service providers to reach Veterans.

San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation (SLOLAF) provides participants with individualized counseling services to help resolve housing barriers and assist with other civil legal issues.

SSVF participants have access to specialized employment training, job readiness assistance, individualized employment counseling, and skills assessment. Training offered includes: basic computer training, skills assessment and training, resume development, interview readiness, and job search assistance.

The SSVF Program is part of a continuum of treatment and support services funded by the U. S. Department of Veteran Affairs.
