Note on COVID-19 Updates: 

All Family and Community Support Services are continuing to provide support to community members in need via phone calls, FaceTime, email, etc. One-on-one assistance is limited at this point, but depending on a family’s circumstances may be requested. If a family member and/or someone from their household is exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, in person visits will not be allowed.

Current clients should continue to communicate and work with their assigned case workers/advocates.

San Luis Obispo and South County Family Resource Centers are closed, but the Family Advocates are available for assistance. If you need assistance, please contact the appropriate family advocate listed below by location:

FAMILY PRESERVATION AND PARENT EDUCATION

CAPSLO is a community response partner with the Department of Social Services (DSS)/Child Welfare Services, Foster Support Services, Probation Department, and Behavioral Health/Mental Health Youth Services. County-wide prevention services include in-home parent education and direct services.

Services are focused on families at risk of child abuse and neglect with the goal of keeping children safe, healthy, and at home. Referrals are provided by CWS social workers or DSS-ERS. Behavioral Health/Mental Health Youth Services do not include direct services support, only parent education, and referrals primarily stem from SAFE family advocates or County Mental Health therapists.  Parent education services are provided in your home, at a family resource center, school, or library. We provide Parent Cafes and parent support groups county-wide in English and Spanish.
